Image Processing Procedure to Evaluate Inclusion Dissolution in a Slag Observed by High-Temperature Confocal Scanning Laser Microscopy

In situ study of the inclusion dissolution behavior in a slag utilizing high-temperature confocal scanning laser microscopy helps to understand phenomenon removal non-metallic inclusions from liquid steel before casting process. The current work introduces an image processing procedure automate and measure diameter during its dissolution. Silica alumina particle were considered as they appear differently when suspended (bubble-like transparent solid-like opaque, respectively). consists two parts: (1) morphological isolation construction inclusion, (2) calculation. diameters could be successfully measured over series images showed good agreement with manually diameters. has advantages significant time saving standardization compared manual measurements.
